The event led to a brief competition between the two branches. In the end, the Antpool block was incorporated into the chain with more cumulative work, while the Spiderpool block was discarded. According to Galaxy Research, this was the third single-block reorg on Bitcoin in the past four weeks. The previous two took place at block heights 962722 and 963853. The firm also said its node did not observe the Antpool block until it had already been confirmed and extended by another block. Galaxy Research noted that in a single-block reorg, the network ultimately continues building on the chain with greater cumulative work, and the competing block is removed from the chain. If a transaction was included in the replaced block, its confirmations disappear. The report also referenced larger historical reorgs on other networks, including an 18-block reorg on Monero and a 100-block reorg on Bitcoin SV in 2021, according to Bitcoin.com News.760
Bitcoin2026-08-09 09:45:52Saylor says 99.85% of Bitcoin hashpower stayed on the main chain as BIP-110 fork mined only two blocksMichael Saylor said on X that Bitcoin is operating as designed, framing the BIP-110 split as a case where a fork is free to proceed while the broader Bitcoin network is equally free not to follow it. The numbers he cited show where miners stayed. About 99.85% of Bitcoin hashpower remained on the Bitcoin network, while the BIP-110 branch produced only two blocks. At the time of the post, that branch was already more than 80 blocks behind. The update points to overwhelming mining support for the main Bitcoin chain rather than the fork.1730
